Expect better luck with warmer temps

By George Langley

Winter just keeps hanging around here in the North Woods. While we finally got a little break late last week with a couple of really nice sunny days, snow returned Saturday followed by cold temperatures on Monday.

Those slushy conditions are finally improving as the water has been draining through the cracks and holes in the ice.

While there may be some rough going near the south-facing boat landings, the ice is still very thick with reports of 24 to 32 inches of ice on most lakes.

Perch fishing has been very good areawide. These fish will be very active
