Tom Gau­gush, age 86, an Eagle River/Three Lakes area resident since 1977, died on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his home.

He was born on Dec. 13, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., to Joseph and Irma Gaugush.

He owned and operated the Pine Gables from 1981-1985, and The Chalet from 1985-1994, in Three Lakes, Wis.

He enjoyed fishing, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. Tom was a member of the Lions Club International of Three Lakes and the American Legion Post #2930.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II and the U.S. Army in Europe during Korea.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Waltraud Gaugush, in 1999; his parents; and brother, Joseph Gaugush.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela (Phil) Kerins of Eagle River, Wis.; son, William (Jade) Gaugush of Boston, Mass.; brothers, Robert (Joan) Gaugush of Grover Beach, Calif., and Ken (Eileen) Gaugush of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Kerins and Cary (Becky) Kerins; great-grandchildren, Mckenzie, Lily and Jared; nieces and nephews in the United States and Germany; other family and many friends.

Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Three Lakes, Wis., with visitation for one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Vilas County Humane Society are appreciated.
