Snowmobiler killed on Lac Vieux Desert

A 46-year-old snowmobiler died in a single-machine accident on Lac Vieux Desert in the town of Phelps Sunday evening, according to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

DNR conservation warden and snowmobile safety administrator warden Gary Eddy says the male victim was traveling on the sled when he struck two snowbanks causing him and the machine to go airborne.

The victim, whose name has not been released by authorities, was found with the snowmobile along the west shore of Lac Vieux Desert Lake about 6 p.m.
