Spring sports off to slow start here

By Gary Ridderbusch

With more than a foot of snow still on the ground, the spring sports season is getting off to a slow start for area high school teams as many nonconference games already have been cancelled.

The only sport that has had any resemblance of a season is track — especially at Northland Pines High School. That’s because Pines has a field house that includes a five-lane, 200-meter indoor track, along with space for high jumping, pole vaulting, throwing the shot and a long-jumping pit filled with foam pellets.

That leaves baseball, softball, girls soccer and golf
