Eagle rescued in St. Germain

By Wally Geist
St. Germain Correspondent

Don and Kathy Nelson of St. Germain were walking their dogs along Highway 155  Sunday, April 28, at about 11:30 a.m. when they observed a bald eagle feasting on road-killed venison by the side of the highway.

As they approached the bird, they observed the eagle trying to hop away from them with its wings outstretched and flapping.

“We didn’t think a healthy eagle would try to hop into the brush with its wings outstretched all of 3 to 5 feet. We observed the bird for a while and then called Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua for advice,” said Kathy
