The hits weren’t scarce. However, neither were the strikeouts. The result was an opening day 8-1 loss for the Minocqua Wood Ducks men’s baseball team who fell under the wrath of too many mistakes and not enough base runners against Interwald in a Dairyland League game last Sunday.
“The game was actually closer than what the score indicates,” said manager Doug Etten. “We just didn’t have enough guys getting on base. We had the hits, but without anyone moving around second base, it makes it tough to score runs. We probably didn’t play enough small ball early on, but when you’re behind from the get-go it makes it a little tougher.”It was the first start of the season for pitcher Nick Bolte,
