Gov. Walker seeking applicants for sheriff

Gov. Scott Walker announced Friday that he is seeking applicants for appointment as sheriff in Vilas County.

The appointment will fill the vacancy created by the death of Sheriff Frank Tomlanovich, who died June 20, following a battle with an aggressive cancer.

The new sheriff will begin serving the county upon appointment and will complete a term ending Jan. 5, 2015.

An applicant must reside in Vilas County
