James Jud­son Farmer of Carol Stream, Ill., died on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the age of 76. He was born on July 5, 1936, in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in Sycamore, Ill.

Jim served in the U.S. Army as a communications specialist and spent his career in advertising and sales. He had a lifelong love of dogs and antiques and was an avid reader. He was a great storyteller and repository of family history.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years Sally (Shultz) Farmer; their children, Jamie and Jay; grandchildren, Lucy and Jasper; and his sister, Sally Lippert. Jim and his sister grew up spending a month every summer on Black Oak Lake in Land O’ Lakes, Wis., where Jim loved to swim and fish with his Dad.The North Woods held a special place in his heart. A private service will be held on July 12 at the family cottage.
