Vern Langley of St. Germain died Aug. 3, 2013, at his home. He was 84.
Mr. Langley was born July 4, 1929, in Quincy, Mass., the son of Vernon and Gertrude Langley.
He was in the Naval Reserve while in high school, and was drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict.After being discharged from the Army, he returned to college and completed his degree in Elementary Education.
He taught sixth grade before becoming a principal in Downers Grove, Ill., for 30 years.
After retiring he became an over-the-road truck driver and eventually retired again to the North Woods.
His interests included being on the lake with his grandchildren and building model train layouts with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Ireland.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Arlene; daughters, Karla (David) Cleveland, Karen Dirienzo, Kathy Kimbro, Holly Langley, Jennifer (John Kahovec) Logston and Rebekkah (Chris) Post; sons, James, and John (Rhonda); 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at Bolger’s Funeral Home in Woodruff Thursday, Aug. 8, at 5 p.m.
The service will be followed by a light meal and refreshments.
