Dan Petras, age 84, of Three Lakes, Wis., died on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at his home.
He was born on June 4, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Sebastian and Susan (née Siska) Petras.
Dan was raised on the near southwest side of Chicago and attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.After graduation in 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He served active duty for five and one-half years, attaining the rank of lieutenant in the Naval Reserves.
Dan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean (née Lenoch); daughter, Jane; and son, Daniel.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan (née Serowski).
He is further survived by his son-in-law, Wayne Serowski; and daughter-in-law, Michelle Hermann. He is grandfather to Chelsea, Ryan, Daniel and Hayley; and great-grandfather to Ella.
A memorial service was held Aug. 12, 2013, at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River, Wis., with Pastor Mary Ann Miller officiating. Burial followed in Three Lakes Cemetery.
