Disappointed in theft of satellite dish from yard PDF Print E-mail

Letter to the Editor:

We all shake our heads at the world today and wonder why. Here’s another example of why.

My neighbor in St. Germain held a garage sale on Friday and Saturday this week and one of the visitors to their yard, decided that an item laying on the ground in my yard was something they needed. It was a television satellite dish. Not an expensive or unusual item, but it didn’t belong to him.

Another of my neighbors witnessed him stopping his van, as he drove away from the garage sale and loading the dish in his van. Sorry to say, he wasn’t close enough to get a plate number or description of the individual. The dish was 35 feet from the road and behind a tree, so I don’t think it could be assumed to be garbage, left out for trash hauling.

To the individual who did this, since you took my property, why didn’t you think the bicycle leaning against the deck was fair game? Or the grill on the deck? Where do you draw the line at theft?

People like you are the reason we have so little civility in our society today. Show some respect for your fellow citizens and their rights to privacy and possessions.

Jhn Stark,

Maybe you can elaborate on just what it is that Mike Jannsen was "trying" to do other than tattoo a label on my forehead that he himself wears as well.

Besides that being the perfect definition of hypocrisy you might want to put a little "Obama on your mind" for once and quit being complicit in the transformation of the American dream into a European nightmare.

That is unless your a radical who wants this socialism?

Thanks Mike for trying! It's just hopeless. His favorite song is Obama on my mind!

Yikes! Took me a while to look at this again! Hi Dawn - just for the record, my "Huh" was a sarcastic "Huh". I've read the posts; See - DSM codes 301.50, 301.881,

Enough already??

Besides my initial reaction to that gall which goes along the lines of - you can't be serious, did you already forget who perpetrated and perpetuated the "extremist" label that was baselessly tatooed upon my forehead??

I was minding my own business, as in, I pay for the service that this site provides, and making a supportive comment to letter writer Mike.

But you, in your infinite wisdom, decided to jump out of the weeds for the second time in just three weeks to call me an "extremist" even in your last post before the derogatory face.

And for simply defending myself, yet again, you try and turn the tables back on me as though it's all my doing?

Like I said at the beginning - you can't be serious!

Frank, Enough already !

After all the evidence I put up to successfully prove that you didn't have a clue as to what you were talking about you still have no clue as to what you are talking about.

So right back at you - you are an extremist as well.

But unlike you, a person like me who is confident that his convictions make America a better place, could not care less about the thumbs.

If I did, I would have stopped long ago.

Frank, It's not a baseless statement. You are an extremist and everybody knows it. Your getting better though. You have finally come out in favor of certain types of abortion and even are for an assault weapon ban even though you diminish the 25 lives that it would (by your count) save. Very good progress Frank. I was happy to be able to get that much out of you. Little steps. Glad to see it. I'm sure your comments approvals are sure to turn around soon with such honesty.

Since the whole point of my "exercises" was to unequivocally illustrate to you that you in fact are the same extremist-type that you baselessly accused me of - which I accomplished in no uncertain terms - from your opening second paragraph you have a problem with yourself as well.

Case in point, I will only compromise, as you rationalize, on an assault weapons ban which would save an infinitesimal 25 lives compared to the 16,500 a late term aborton ban would achieve, and I'm the extremist?

And the "dressed in white sheets" question was only implanted in my mind because of Obama's (you know the guy you want to do "some good") Defense Department's actual training manuals, as in, is this the type of "good" you're referring too?

It's your life but it affected mine with a baseless statement so just maybe you could start paying more attention "everyday" to what's really happening in this country.

Frank, I'm glad you agree with me that like I said most people in Wisconsin did indeed vote for President Obama again.
The problem I have with extremists is their never wiling to work together to improve a single issue much like congress today and as you have also shown with your statement how you also are for an assault weapons ban but ONLY if you can pull another issue into it. Amazing how you got to White sheets ? Abortion, assault weapons over a satellite dish. Really I'm sure your a nice man just seems from all these posts most people have a different opinion than you. It's ok most people had a differant view of President Obama than I and voted him back in office. I just don't think about it every day and yes I hope even in this political climate he and all congress can work TOGETHER for some good!

Mike Jannsen,

I’d like to take this opportunity to contest a few general things you’ve said. One is the comment you made about “matching posts” or “you must think the person with the most posts wins.” Did it ever occur to you that we (including Dawn and Jeff) would not have locked horns in the first place if each of you would just have taken the time to understand the obvious point I was making to letter writer Mike, in the first place?
