Eagles improve to 3-0-1 in GNC

The Northland Pines Eagles defeated Mosinee 4-1 in Great Northern Conference (GNC) play last week, but lost to Kingsford, Mich., and Merrill at home in a double duel Saturday.

At Mosinee Thursday, Davey Mendham cleaned up on a deflection off a far post shot to give the Eagles the lead. A header by Jacob Grosskopf before halftime lifted the Eagles to a 2-0 half-time lead.

Mitch Moline and Nic Satran scored in the second half before Mosinee got on the scoreboard with a penalty kick in the 70th minute. Gabe Hartwig had two saves for Pines.

The win gave the Eagles a 3-0-1 record in the GNC, setting up a big game Tuesday
