Vojta harvests possible state record black bear
By Wally Geist
St. Germain Correspondent

John Vojta of St. Germain harvested a 586-pound black bear Friday, Sept. 13, while hunting over bait on private land about five miles west of Port Wing in Bayfield County.

A taxidermist measured the skull and determined its green score at 24 inches. While there will be some shrinkage, the skull measurement could put the bear in the state record book.

The current record is 235?16 for a bear skull

Too bad hunters have to rely on killing an animal over bait and aren't hunter enough to track their quarry giving it an equal chance.I'm not against hunting..just the way you hunt
