Action picking up for muskie anglers
By George Langley

The North Woods is moving into the late fall period as the water temperatures have fallen and are now in the lower 40s on many lakes.

This is the time for serious muskie hunters and a few very serious and experienced walleye fishermen. If it’s not too cold, it’s a great time to be on the water. Lake levels, on most water bodies, are nice and high; better than they have been in years.

Weeds are down on all lakes, except for those tough coontail and cabbage weeds that stay green nearly all year on some lakes. The edges, right off the weeds, are still holding fish.

Muskie action has been great in the last week or so.
