George Petts Jr. PDF Print E-mail

George Petts Jr., a long-time resident of Eagle River and Crandon, died Nov. 10, 2013, in Rochester, Minn.  He was 76.

Mr. Petts was born Jan. 6, 1937, in Eagle River to  George Sr. and Christine (née Thomas) Petts.

He was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians and served in the U.S. Army.

He retired from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

His interests included  hunting, fishing and traveling.

Mr. Petts was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Survivors include his three daughters, Shelly of Janesville, Jeani of Waterloo,  Lisa Schuerman of Oak Creek; one son, George III of Waynesville, Mo.; three brothers, Robert of Conover, Stanley of New Holstein, and Leo of Crandon; three sisters, Celia Kohl and Helen Petts, both of West Allis,  and Gladys Romain of Brookfield; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his ex-wife, Mary Jayne (née LeDuc).

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m. at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River.

Visitation will be held immediately following the service until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials in Mr. Pett’s name are appreciated by the family.
