Tamarack dam must be replaced, DNR tells groups

CONOVER — It is the position of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) that the Tamarack Flowage dam has to be completely reconstructed with approved engineering plans, but not before the Vilas County floodplain ordinance is amended.

The future of the Tamarack Flowage was discussed by representatives of Vilas County, the town of Conover, DNR and the Flowage Association Alliance at a joint meeting of the Vilas County Zoning Committee and Land & Water Conservation Committee at the Conover Community Center last week.
