Alan F. ‘Butch’ Harder PDF Print E-mail

Alan F. “Butch” Harder of St. Germain and formerly of Kenosha died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013. He was 76.

He was born in Christie Oct. 21, 1937, the youngest son of the late Henry and Elsie (née Hediger) Harder. He was educated at and graduated from Neillsville High School and moved to Kenosha in 1959.

Mr. Harder served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958.

In July of 1960, he married Karen Neuman in Neillsville. They later di­vorced.

He was employed as an industrial blacksmith with the American Motors/Chrys­ler Corp. and in 1989 retired to St. Germain.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making and building cribbage boards. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Mr. Harder was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Thomas Gutierrez Jr.

He is survived by  three daughters, Lisa (Michael Koontz) Voltz of Kenosha, Deanna (Greg) Futch of Pleasant Prairie and Jenni (Jon) Skovronski of Paddock Lake; three brothers, Henry (Peg)  of Manitowoc, Bennie (Betty) of South Beloit, and Rene (Anita) of Greenwood; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be  held Sunday, Dec. 29, at Proko Funeral Home in Kenosha at 2 p.m. Interment will be private. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
