Dorothy A. Walin of Minocqua died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Our Home K Care in Minocqua. She was 89.

Mrs. Walin was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Illinois, the daughter of David and Anna (née Carlson) Borg.

She was a professional dog groomer and show judge, and she owned and operated The Velvet Bow in Hinsdale, Ill.

She published a nationally recognized book on pet grooming, as well as authoring numerous articles for magazine and trade publications.

Mrs. Walin also wrote instruction manuals for the Oster Corp. Pet Division.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, and daughter-in-law, Bonita.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy (John Parish) Edwards of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; two sons, Carl of The Villages, Fla., and Clifford (Karen) of Naper­ville, Ill.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in the spring.
