While the snowmobile trails are great, the ice fishing conditions are getting difficult on lakes across the North Woods.
Some sun and warmer weather are needed to knock that snow cover on the lakes down a little bit. It is very hard to get around, especially on lakes that haven’t been fished. Anglers are reporting both slush and snow drifts on many lakes.
On some lakes there are roads plowed, but for the most part it’s just tough and will remain so until the sun reduces the snow down. The cold weather also has made it tough to survive out there if you don’t have a shack.
