Guides offer Pines students ice fishing lessons

Ice and snow-covered Silver Lake became the classroom and area fishing guides became the instructors for about two dozen Northland Pines High School students for a couple days last week.

The students were members of the Outdoor Pursuits class, taught by physical education teacher Josh Rhode.

The lesson was simple and fun — ice fishing.

The Outdoor Pursuits class is an elective physical education course that is offered to upper-class Northland Pines students, according to Rhode.
