There’s no gain without pain

WE LIVE IN a culture that worships comfort. During the 20th Century we saw the greatest assault on discomfort in the history of the human race. That was the conclusion of author Edwin Bliss when he wrote “Getting Things Done” in 1976.

I’m wondering what writers will say about the changes we’ve seen in the early stages of the 21st Century. At the rate we are going, there will be more life-altering changes in communications, technology and medicine in the first 20 years than were achieved in the entire 20th Century.
