Fashion show nears
The Three Lakes Women’s Club is in the final stages of preparation for the 32nd annual Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show that will be held Sept. 17. Club member Mickey Schneider picked out an outfit to model during a visit to the Open Armoire in Three Lakes. Bakers, volunteers sought for 22nd Pumpkin Fest

With the 22nd annual Pumpkin Fest on the horizon Oct. 22, the Three Lakes Fire Department Auxiliary is seeking home-baked goods and volunteers.

Held each year on the second Saturday of october, the popular fall event attracts thousands of locals and visitors to Three Lakes.

“With the rumor that Three Lakes’ bakers are some of the best in Wisconsin, contributions of home baked goods for the event’s centerpiece bake sale are always most welcome and needed,” said bakery coordinator Linda Remington.

Military promotion
U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Jonathan Priem (right) recently was promoted to 1st Lt. at a ceremony at the American Legion in Three Lakes. With the assistance of his brother, Josh, and sister, Sara, Priem received the promotion from his grandfather, Capt. Terry McCloskey (left), U.S. Navy, retired. Legion to hold dinner Saturday

The Three Lakes American Legion will hold a stuffed pork chop dinner Saturday, Aug. 30, serving from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The dinner will include stuffed pork chops with all the trimmings, coffee and dessert for a cost of $10.

Two weeks left to order bricks for new sign

With only two weeks remaining to place orders, the Three Lakes School District and Three Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center Inc. are reminding area residents that personalized bricks are still available for the new message center project downtown.

The two entities continue work on the new electronic message center at Cy Williams Park by offering personalized plaques and bricks in exchange for donations.

The partnership was formed to construct the state-of-the-art sign, which provides an opportunity to view most area events on a continuous basis.

Plan commission seeks citizen input

In an effort to expand business and economic development, the Three Lakes Plan Commission is asking all year-round and seasonal property owners for input through a survey.

“We are looking at ways to spur economic development and help keep, create and move viable business in Three Lakes,” said Three Lakes Plan Commission member Collette Sorgel. “We need all property owners’ input, and are asking that you take a survey to help us determine if there is something we can do to help.”

The Planning Commission’s survey can be found online at townofthreelakes.­com or may be picked up at the town office.

Sportscaster Garcia gives talk at Reiter

The Three Lakes Historical Society recently hosted sportscaster Jessie Garcia at the Reiter Center.

Garcia, the author of “My Life with the Green & Gold,” spoke about her 20 years as a sportscaster in Wisconsin. In addition to covering the Green Bay Packers, she has covered the Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Olympians.
