New buoys
Three local organizations recently donated funds to the town of Three Lakes to purchase new buoys to be placed on the Chain of Lakes to mark channels and warn of dangerous areas. Faith Lutheran to hold annual Spring Fish Fry

Faith Lutheran Church in Three Lakes has set its Spring Fish Fry for Friday, May 2, at Oneida Village Inn with serving beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children younger than 12. Included in the price is an all-you-can-eat buffet of fish, broasted chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, french fries, bread and a dessert. Take out orders are welcome.

This year’s beneficiary will be Hunter St. Louis, a 10-year-old boy from Three Lakes recovering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

There will be a silent and a live auction beginning at 7 p.m. with many items,

Women's club donation
The Three Lakes Women’s Club re-elected its existing officers for a new term at its April meeting. Attendees saw a presentation by ventriloquist Dave Parker and heard about the plans for the proposed renovation of the library. The club also donated $2,000 to the library renovation project. Book sale set Saturday

The Friends of Demmer Library will hold a used book sale this Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to noon in the lower level of the library located on W. School Street in Three Lakes.

The book sales are held on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Donations of gently-used books (not more that 15 years old), both fiction and nonfiction, are always needed and may be dropped off at the library.

Society sets meeting April 28

The Three Lakes Genealogical Society will meet Monday, April 28, at 1 p.m. in the lower level of the Edward U. Demmer Memorial Library.

New members, both experienced and beginner researchers, are welcome to attend. Anyone interested in genealogy and family history research is invited to attend the meetings.

The Three Lakes Genealogical Society meets the fourth Monday of the month at the Demmer Library.

Legion plans chicken dinner

The Three Lakes American Legion will hold a broasted chicken dinner Saturday, April 26, serving from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The dinner will include broasted chicken with all the trimmings, coffee and dessert for a cost of $8.

The Jim Pekol Trio will perform music starting at 7 p.m.

First weekend champs
 Team All Aboard of Merrill took first place during the first weekend of the 40th annual Traveling Women’s Pool Tournament held at Oneida Village Inn. The team won $875 cash and included, front row from left, Stephanie Brandt, Patti Clark and Katie Proft; back row, Carrie Jo Nelson, Tootie Dittmar and Shelly Mondeik. Easter celebration
More than 200 adults and children attended the annual Phelps Easter Egg Hunt coordinated by Rob Andersen III and Colin Crawford and held at Phelps School Saturday. A hot dog and chip meal was offered at no cost, and youths visited the Easter Bunny (above). All children received a goodie bag and a prize. Other activities included an Easter egg race and youths signing a poster to be displayed in local business windows in Phelps.
