Snow sculpture contest
Students from Phelps High School recently participated in a team snow sculpture contest. Each class built a sculpture, which was graded on overall appearance, difficulty of design and teamwork. Watercolor workshop set at Phelps Library March 7
Back by popular demand, a watercolor-painting workshop again will be offered to adults in the Phelps area. Participants will learn the basics of watercolor painting.        —Photo By Sharon Gifford

The program Watercolor Play for Adults recently was offered at the Phelps Library under the direction of Teresa Franzen.

Due to popular demand, the class will be offered again Friday, March 7, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Students will learn basic techniques and create pictures of Chinese dragons, flowers or a project of their choice.

The purpose of the class is to get people to try watercolors,

Snomo club sets fundraiser this Saturday

The Phelps Snowmobile Club will hold a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Saturday, March 8, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Holiday Lodge & Supper Club in Phelps.

The cost is $10 per ticket, and tickets will be available at the door.

Proceeds will benefit trails with brushing and grooming.

Woman’s club accepting scholarship applications

Along with accepting applications from Phelps High School seniors, the Phelps Woman’s Club recently extended its academic scholarship applications to include adult residents of Phelps interested in continuing education.

Blood drive set in March

The Phelps community will hold a blood drive Thursday, March 13, from 2 to 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, located at 4494 Town Hall Road.

Pietenpol awarded for artwork

Angela Pietenpol of Phelps was among Gold and Silver Key winning artists whose work will be on display in Schroeder Galleria and Pieper Gallery now through March 16.

The art is being displayed as a part of Milwaukee Art Museum’s annual exhibition of works by Wisconsin students grades 7 through 12.

More than 2,300 individual artworks from 112 schools across the state participated in the Scholastic Art Awards.

Phelps Maple Syrup Fest will hold its third annual event Saturday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Phelps School, located at 4451 Old School Road.
