Debra ‘Debbi’ Stevens

Debra “Debbi” Stevens, a longtime resident of Eagle River, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Rochester, Minn. She was 60.

Mrs. Stevens was born Aug. 29, 1953, in West Bend, to Milton and Helen Kertscher.

Her interests included travelling, reading, attending sporting events, and supporting her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents;

Jo Ann C. Birkeness

Jo Ann C. Birkeness of Eagle River died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhinelander. She was 83.

Mrs. Birkeness was born March 24, 1931, in Green Bay, the daughter of Fred and Agnes (née Rasmussen) Krenzien. She was raised and attended schools in Green Bay.

She was married to David Birkeness and together they owned and operated the Mud Creek Saloon in Eagle River. She also was employed as a dietitian at the Eagle River Nursing Home.

Katie Caprich

Katie (née Bittenbender) Caprich, formerly of Eagle River, died Friday, May 2, 2014, in Payson, Ariz. She was 86.

Mrs. Caprich was preceded in death by her husband, John, formerly of Eagle River.

Survivors include one daughter, Susann Conklin of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Bill (Kathy) of Panama City, Fla. and John III (Wanda) of Mesa; one sister, Marcia (Dave) Koss of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; and two grandsons.

Funeral services were in held in Arizona.

William G. Grems

William G. Grems of Land O’ Lakes died Friday, May 23, 2014, at Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhine­lander. He was 81.

Mr. Grems was born Nov. 8, 1932, in Utica, N.Y., to Bradford and Lela (née French) Grems. He was raised and attended schools in Utica.

He entered the U.S. Navy and served on the mine-sweeper USS Brant during the Korean conflict.

He married Dorothy Pavlack

David Grover

David Grover, formerly of Eagle River, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Golden Living Center-Golden Age in Tomahawk.

Mr. Grover was born Dec. 27, 1940, to Fred A. and Grace (née Steveling) in Detroit, Mich. He spent most of his youth in the Detroit suburb of St. Claire Shores.

In the early 1950s, the family moved to Hartford, where he attended Hartford Public School and graduated in 1959.

He married Judith Keller
