Minocqua man, 42, charged
for not completing roof projects

A 42-year-old Minocqua man, who was working through Vilas County Social Services to repair two homes in Arbor Vitae, was charged with two counts of theft by contractor in Vilas County Circuit Court.

Steven R. Gibbs Jr. will make an adjourned initial appearance in court April 28 at 10 a.m. He remains free on a $2,500 signature bond.

According to the complaint, Gibbs, the owner of TLC?Repairs, was to complete new roof projects at two different Arbor Vitae residences, one between June 2013 and March 17, 2014, and the other between Oct. 2013 and March 2014.

In both incidents, Gibbs was paid money

Eagle River woman, 25, receives
deferred entry on forgery charge

A 25-year-old Eagle River woman who altered credit card receipts at an Eagle River supper club in 2013 pleaded no contest to a charge of forgery and a 36-month deferred entry of judgement was approved in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Brianna Rae Counter also pleaded no contest and was found guilty to misdemeanor theft. Two other counts of forgery and two counts of misdemeanor theft were dismissed, though one charge of each were read-in at sentencing.

Suspect in overdose case
pleads not guilty to delivery

One of five suspects allegedly tied to the overdose death of a Lac du Flambeau woman March 3 pleaded not guilty to a delivery of heroin charge in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Brenda J. Maloney, 44, of Lac du Flambeau, charged with delivery of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin and possession with intent to delivery heroin, was bound over for arraignment and pleaded not guilty. A pretrial conference was set for April 15 at 1:30 p.m.
