Man, 43, pleads not guilty
by reason of mental disease

A 43-year-old Eagle River man charged with attempted second-degree sexual assault pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Danny D. Fichtner, 43, also is charged with strangulation or suffocation and burglary of a building or dwelling.

A total of 353 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

The department reported at least eight vehicle accidents, nine car vs. deer accidents, two car vs. bear accidents, six requests for agency assistance, five requests for an ambulance, six animal problems, one battery, five burglar alarms, three burglaries, 12 requests for citizen assistance, four reports of criminal damage to property, four disturbances, six domestic violence complaints, three fires, 10 fireworks complaints, five reports of found property, two reports of fraud, four hazards, two hit-and-runs,

Milwaukee woman gets probation
for possessing heroin at residence

A 31-year-old Milwaukee woman who possessed heroin in Lac du Flambeau was placed on probation for 24 months in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Lindy M. Bauman  pleaded no contest and was found guilty of possession of narcotic drugs. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed in the plea agreement.

Woman charged in connection
to drug raid pleads not guilty

A 46-year-old Eagle River, woman charged in connection with a drug raid east of Eagle River May 19 waived her right to a preliminary hearing in Vilas County Circuit Court Monday and entered pleas of not guilty to two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts.

Deanna Worthen entered her pleas after Circuit Judge Neal A. Nielsen III?found sufficient factual basis for the felony charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia.
