The Northland Pines junior varsity football team kicked off the 2014 season with a 54-38 victory against the Rhinelander Hodags last Thursday.
“The team should be commended for its spectacular performance in the first game of the year,” said coach Woody Ahlborn.
The coach said George Jackson and Ethan Polich, the team’s quarterbacks, took several hits while still completing passes, controlling deliveries to running backs and showing their own running abilities.
“Cameron Wait electrified the field with a total of five touchdowns. Cody Jantzen’s defensive?performance played an integral part in the game, causing the Hodags a loss of yardage. Zach Ciran’s two touchdowns sealed a victory for the Northland Pines Eagles,” said Ahlborn.
