Walker named Eagle River’s welcome representative

Nicolet Welcome Service announced that Jean Walker will welcome new families to the Eagle River area as Eagle River’s welcome representative.

Meeting new individuals and families, and  personally presenting a welcome packet with gift certificates, literature and  information on education, health care, local retailers, restaurants, churches and recreation are some of the many services Walker will offer.

Marshfield Clinic donates to Tri-County Council

Marshfield Clinic recently contributed $500 to the Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.

“The funds we receive from area businesses, like Marshfield Clinic, help us with critical prevention and support programming, as well as ongoing operational costs of the shelter,” said Shellie Holmes, executive director of Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence.

The Walter E. Olson Memorial Library in Eagle River will host an exhibition of student artwork from March 1 to April 10 in celebration of Youth Art Month. Papermaking, sheet-forming class scheduled April 12 in Eagle River

The Mill Paper and Book Arts in Rhinelander will offer two classes during the spring season at Circle of Life Studio, located at 3720 Gaffney Drive in Eagle River.

Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., “Introduction to Papermaking and Sheet Forming” will be taught by Debbie Jircik. The class will be $55, plus a $10 supply fee.

Participants will learn the basic processes of hand papermaking using Western techniques, as well as some of the history, vocabulary, basic equipment, characteristics of various fibers, beating, sheet forming, pressing and drying.

Babysitting class planned April 5

A Red Cross babysitting course, sponsored by the Auxiliary of Howard Young Medical Center, for ages 11 to 15 will take place Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Minocqua-Hazelhurst-Lake Tomahawk (MHLT) Elementary School in the school library.

The course will focus on care for children and infants, being a good leader, making good decisions, handling emergencies and health topics such as hand washing techniques.
