DU plans banquet June 19

The Headwaters Chapter of Ducks Unlimited (DU) will host its 40th annual banquet for waterfowl and wetlands conservation Thursday, June 19, at Eagle Waters Resort, with the early-bird deadline of June 9.

The traditional-style DU banquet will feature a sit-down dinner, firearms giveaways,  outdoors gear, art raffles and a silent auction. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

Tickets will be $65 each or $110 for a couple. Those who return their reservation by Monday, June 9, will receive one free chance on a $140 DU debit card good on most raffles at the banquet.

Spring Classic taking entries

There is still time to register two-person teams for the 34th annual Spring Classic of Champions Muskie Tournament set for Saturday and Sunday, June 14-15, on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes.

The event will be hosted by the  Headwaters Chapter of Muskies Inc. and  the tournament headquarters will be Hiawatha Hideaway on Duck Lake, according to tournament director Scott Samuels.

Plum Creek DU plans spring dinner June 10

The Plum Creek Ducks Unlimited (DU) Chapter of Sayner will hold its 33rd annual spring dinner Tuesday, June 10, at Sayner Pub in Sayner with tickets priced at $20 per person.

The dinner will feature an all-you-can-eat buffet including Sayner Pub’s famed pizza, spaghetti and mostaccioli, along with salads, garlic bread and desserts.

Dinner will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. with major raffles, blue-light specials and a silent auction running throughout the evening.

Among the major raffle items will be the 2014 DU rifle of the year,

Conover sets fishing event in town park

The Conover Lions Club and Muskies Inc. will host Take A Kid Fishing, Sunday, June 15, at the Conover Town Park, located on Highway K East. Event registration will begin at 11 a.m.

Every child will be able to catch a fish in Lake Itsy Bitsy, according to the club. The lake is located inside the park.

Fishing poles and bait will be furnished

Free youth fishing seminars set at Hi-Pines thru summer

Free fishing seminars for children age 5 to 13 will be held each Tuesday from June 17 through Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Hi-Pines Campground located at 1919 Highway 45 N. in Eagle River.

All children will be given information about fishing, a goody bag and prizes. Prizes could include a rod and reel, tackle box, lures and other fishing items.
