The Vilas County Landover DualSporters — the sponsor club of the off-highway motorcycle (OHM) trails — confirmed that the trail system will be ready to open Thursday, May 12, at 9 a.m.

Club members said that this opening date was achieved after many hours of trail work to clear brush from the winter ice and wind storms.

Vilas County Parks and Recreation Supervisor Todd Bierman said that the county has completed safety inspections on the trails and approved the opening date.

Bierman added that these OHM trails do not utilize roadways like many ATV/UTV trails do. The ATV/UTV trail opening has not yet been set due to trail condition concerns and extensive brushing that needs to be completed. ATV/UTV trail openings will be announced as soon as conditions allow.
