A collaborative effort between the Three Lakes Lions Club, the Three Lakes Community Foundation, the Reiter Center and Forward Three Lakes has resulted in a new kayak launch being placed at Maple Lake Beach at Cy Williams Park.
The new launch, located on Lake Drive, just a block off Highway 32 (Superior Street) in downtown Three Lakes, allows individuals to easily ingress and egress from the lake without the risk of capsizing in the process, or the difficulty of doing so from the beach or dock.
Funding for the project was made possible through grants from the Reiter Center Foundation, the Three Lakes Community Foundation, as well as funds from the Bob Meyer Memorial Fund. Meyer was a former Three Lakes Lions Club member.
Dennis Meadows, executive director of the Three Lakes Chamber of Commerce, commended the groups for providing a wonderful addition to Cy Williams Park as well as to the entire community.
“A big thank you to the Lions Club for initiating this project. It adds so much to the park and can be used by all who wish to kayak on Maple Lake,” Meadows said.
