Northwoods Share will host its next free drive-thru community dinner Tuesday, March 16, starting at 5:30 p.m.
The meal, sponsored by Feed Our Rural Kids Inc. (FORK), will feature an Irish-themed menu of shepherd’s pie, bread and a dessert, catered by Eagle Waters Resort in Eagle River.
“FORK has done an incredible job reaching out to help children in our community,” said Northwoods Share board member Pam Zaugg. “We are grateful for their support of this free community dinner.”
According to Zaugg, traditionally, the Northwoods Share community dinners are gatherings where all ages can come and enjoy time together. During the pandemic, the dinners have been modified to provide food to participants via a drive-thru. Northwoods Share is hopeful that they will soon be able to reopen their dining room and invite everyone to come back and enjoy these dinners together.
“Families can use this help in their busy lives so we want to encourage them to stop by and pick up these meals to bring home and enjoy as a family dinner together.” Zaugg said.
Donna Hiller, FORK board advisor expressed the organization’s excitement to collaborate with Northwoods Share in their drive-thru community meal.
Hiller added that 200 meals have been ordered for the St Patrick’s celebration, and all meals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“FORK is particularly excited to share this invite to this early celebration of St. Patrick’s Day with families who may be new to the dinner,” she said.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. vehicles can enter from the north side of the parking lot at 1019 E. Wall St. and then proceed to the double doors to pick up their dinners.
“As always, during this COVID-19 pandemic, our volunteers will wear masks as well as practice social distancing. We request all guests do the same,” added Zaugg. “We invite those with special needs or prayer requests to present them to the volunteer who is assisting them.
Monetary donations to Northwoods Share are always welcome. Checks can be made out to Northwoods Share and mailed to Northwoods Share, P.O. Box 1162, Eagle River, WI 54521. A donation jar also will be available for those who care to make a cash offering.
