A 23-year-old St. Germain man died as the result of a motorcycle accident Wednesday night on Highway 17 in the town of Sugar Camp and a Sugar Camp man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the fatality, according to authorities.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call  at approximately 10:23 p.m. of a motorcycle in the middle of the roadway on Highway 17 North near the intersection of Highway D. The caller reported the person was not breathing.  

Upon arrival of emergency personnel, the operator of the motorcycle, Sean Holtslander of St. Germain, was found to be deceased, according to a sheriff’s department press release.

Though the investigation is still ongoing, Jeffrey Liebscher, 53, of Sugar Camp,  has been arrested for suspicion of hit-and-run causing death as well as homicide by negligent use of a vehicle, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

Liebscher is expected to make an appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court Branch II this Friday, Aug. 30, at 1:15 p.m.

Oneida County deputies along with the Oneida County Ambulance, Wisconsin Highway Patrol, Rhinelander Police Department, Three Lakes Police Department, and Sugar Camp Fire Department responded to the crash.  

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office will be completing the accident report and the Wisconsin State Patrol is completing a reconstruction of the accident.  The accident is still under investigation.
