Alma Grace ‘Skippy’ Burzynski, longtime resident of Clearwater Lake, Wis. and Three Lakes, Wis., passed away peacefully on Dec.1, 2021, following a seven-year battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia. She was 86.

Mrs. Burzynski was born March 26, 1935, to Joseph and Clara (née Moses) Peters in Clearwater Lake.

Our mom was a hard worker, from picking potatoes in the Oneida Farms potato fields before school, working at the camera store in Eagle River, Wis., then to the U.S. Agricultural Office Crandon branch for many years.

Through a chance car ride she met her “one and only” Ray Burzynski. They were married by the Rev. Richard Burzynski in Rhinelander, Wis.

She stopped working outside the home to devote her time to her family. They lived many happy years above the barber shop in Three Lakes. Upon her husband’s passing she moved into their retirement home in Clearwater Lake.

She loved everything about the summer. From the visits by the three-legged bear and her cubs, countless deer and turkeys and other wildlife. She even freed an eagle when it got tangled in the garden netting. Most of all she loved her flowers. She could be found with dirty feet and hands kneeling in the flower beds.

She was a lifelong active member of the Clearwater Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church, who loved to share her faith with others.

Mrs. Burzynski is survived by her three children, Deb (Ken) Folkman of Little Suamico, Wis., Julie (Paul) Burzynski-Lamon of Three Lakes, Tony (Victoria) Burzynski of Garner, N.C.; grandchildren, Ken, Keith (Heather) and Lee (Monik) Folkman, and Ian and Grayce Lamon; great-grandchildren, Keifer, Raya, and Emma Lee Folkman; brother, Elmer (Barbara) Peters; sister, Viola Platzke. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Burzyn-ski; parents, Joseph and Clara Peters; brothers, Guy, Norman and Carl Peters; sisters, Evelyn Schoolman, Doris Evans, and Aletha Bruette.

A special thank you is extended to her team and staff at Compassus Hospice program for their kind and compassionate care. The family also expresses their sincere gratitude to neighbors, friends and family for their prayers, kindness and help.

A celebration of her life service will be held in the spring of 2022.
