Cara Rae Hedberg DelBene passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019.  She was just 63 years old.

She was born and raised in Conover, Wis., to Richard and LaVonne Hedberg (d).

She leaves behind her father, Richard, of Conover; two sisters, Kris Boulden of Plymouth, Minn., and Stephanie Hedberg Cline of El Cerrito, Calif.; and one brother, Jeff Hedberg-Thomas residing in Lakeland, Fla.

Cara’s family in the Green Bay, Wis., area are one son, Ryan DelBene; two grandchildren, Jaida Roberts and Lucas DelBene; and one great-granddaughter, Ariel Roberts; and longtime companion, Doug Kolehmainen.

She was preceded in death by her mother, LaVonne; and her eldest son, Lucas McFee.

Cara was a graduate of Eagle River High School.

She leaves behind many friends and relatives. There will be a celebration of life in the spring or summer back home in Conover, where she will be buried with her son, Lucas.

Cara worked as a Pharmacy Technician for over 30 years. In her youth, she worked at Tremblay’s candy shop, and the drugstore in downtown Eagle River which was then known as  “Woody’s.”

After leaving home, Cara lived in Tucson, Ariz., for a number of years, then relocated to Green Bay.  More recently, she moved back to Conover, to Arbor Vitae, then eventually to Plymouth, where she made her home with her life partner, Mike Phipps.

Cara loved animals of all kinds, and loved collecting various trinkets and antiques. Cara had a huge heart full of acceptance and grace.  She was a steady, reliable presence wherever she was.  Her big, beautiful smile will be remembered by everyone who knew her.

Cara’s spirit will live on through those who knew her best, mourn her now, but will meet with her again some day in the hereafter.
