In his infinite wisdom the Lord called to his eternal home the soul of our departed Christian brother, Carl H. Liebig, on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at his home in Eagle River, Wis., at the age of 80.

Carl was born to Herman and Clara (Schilf) Liebig on April 5, 1940, in Chicago, Ill. As an infant he received the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of Holy Baptism. He was confirmed in his Christian faith at the age of 14 and remained a faithful Christian throughout his life.

He was united in marriage to Heidi Kutzbach on June 6, 1959, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, Ill., and the Lord blessed them with three children.

He served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

For many years he was employed as a floor covering installer and was the owner of FlorCraft in Eagle River from 1986-1999.

Although Carl made his living by often crawling around on the floor on his hands and knees, his heart was often in the clouds with his deep passion for airplanes and flying. He was a member of a national flying club and enjoyed every opportunity to be in the air, whether as pilot or passenger.

His greatest loyalty, however, was to his Lord and Savior Jesus, as well as his deep love for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Heidi; three children, Judith (Richard) Anderson of Hartsville, S.C., Anna (Jon) Hadler of Marathon, Wis., and Andrew (Jean) Liebig of Wasilla, Alaska; six grand-

children, Holly (Jake) Rettig, Emily (Justin) Morman, Heidi (Russell) Krautkramer, Haley Hadler, Benjamin Liebig, and Kaitlyn Liebig; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Rettig, Henry Rettig, Madeline Morman and Claire Morman; and a sister, Marie Chizek of Rolling Meadows, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Russell Chizek. Blessed are those who die in the Lord.

The family expresses their sincerest gratitude to the hospice workers for their tender loving care to Carl.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be directed to the Building Fund of Christ Lutheran Church, 201 N. Third St., Eagle River, WI 54521-8421.
