Chester “Chet” Twardowski, 83, of Eagle River, Wis., passed away peacefully at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Rhinelander, Wis., on Dec. 21, 2021, with family by his side.

Chet was born April 16, 1938, in Goodman, Wis. Chet is the son of Joseph and Sophie (née Leonard) Twardowski.

Chet spent 1958-’62 in the U.S. Army where he was a parachutist in the 82nd Airborne Division.

He then moved to the Fox Valley area where he worked for Gideon and Louis, Fox Valley Tool & Die and a paper mill for a short amount of time until retirement.

Chet lived his entire life as a bachelor. This allowed him to spend much of his time deer and duck hunting, fishing and woodworking.

After retirement, he bought a home in Eagle River not far from the Derby Track where he could always be found in a skybox enjoying his love of snowmobiles.

Summertime would take him to multiple tractor shows across the state, which was another of his favorite pastimes.

He loved his garden time and spent a great amount of time there. Chet loved to work around his house.

He took daily trips to the local coffee shops to spend time with his friends. He enjoyed telling his Army, hunting, fishing, woodworking stories and a good joke of course.

Chet worked for a brief amount of time at the Eagle River Ace Hardware for something to do after his retirement.

He also volunteered at the Northwoods Children’s Museum for many years.

Chet loved his family dearly, rarely missing a holiday at the home of his brother, Francis “Frank” and sister-in-law, Darlene Twardowski on Bog Brook Lake.

His good company and stories will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Chet is survived by niece, Helen (John) Houts of Wabeno, Wis.; Chuck (Kris) Twardowski of Herod, Ill., John (Dawn) Twardowski of Wabeno, Peggy (Jay) Jameson of Wabeno; and one godchild, Alyssa Peterson of Antigo, Wis. Also numerous nieces, nephews and great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

Also needing to be mentioned are two special gentlemen in Chet’s life: Gary (Beth) Giessel of Rhinelander, and Alan (Jodi) Giessel of West Bend, Wis.
