Dennis “Denny” Gramins, age 76, an eight-year resident of Eagle River, Wis., and formerly of Salem, Wis., and Green Bay, Wis., passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019, at his home.

Dennis was born on July 16, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Eugene and Alice (née Beck) Gramins.

He married his wife, Cheryl (née Schulz), on Jan. 21, 1967, in Elm Grove, Wis.

He retired from Super Valu in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., where he was involved in the opening of their new distribution center. Denny was also previously employed at Red Owl in Green Bay.

Following his retirement and moving to Eagle River, he worked at Trig’s, his most favorite job.

Denny served as a WIAA official for 37 years. He refereed basketball, football, baseball, softball and volleyball.

Denny was a founding member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Eagle River, where he served as Jr. Warden.

In his free time he enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was a member of the Three Lakes Muskie League. Denny loved teaching his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews how to fish and hunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother,  Larry.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Gramins of Eagle River; children, Todd (Hanne) Gramins of Brunswick, Maine, and Robin (Tim) Liepert of Oshkosh, Wis.; brothers, Tom (Mary) Gramins of Deerfield, Ill., and Jim (Ellen) Gramins of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; sister, Rose Thessin of Dousman, Wis.; grandchildren, Heather, Molly, Meagan, Max and Stephen; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Eagle River.  Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Francis Episcopal Church, the Save the Dome project in Eagle River, or the charity of your choice are appreciated by the Gramins family.
