Ernest “John” Swenson of Casselberry, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at his home. He was 79.

Mr. Swenson was born Feb. 15, 1942, in Waverly, Iowa, to Edna (née Schrader) and Ernest Swenson.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Forrestal.  

He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). 

He was a philanthropist throughout his life, giving to many causes.

After his military service, Mr. Swenson became a master electrician for American Motors in Ken­osha, and worked there for many years until he moved back to Eagle River to care for his mother. 

He is a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Eagle River. 

Mr. Swenson is survived by one daughter, Marilee Swenson of Casselberry; and one granddaughter.
