Frances Jeanne (née Ong) Rockafellow passed away on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022 at the age of 75 in Aspirus Eagle River Hospital.

She was born on June 28, 1946, in Watseka, Ill., at 10:43 a.m. to Francis Luke Ong and Rosella June Longer Ong.

Jeanne was baptized Aug. 11, 1946, in the Zion Evangelical Church.

In 1959, at the Lakeview Covenant Church, Jeanne received confirmation.

She graduated from Lake View High School, 4015 N. Ashland Ave., Chicago, Ill., in June of 1964.

Jeanne’s first job was at Illinois Bell Telephone in downtown Chicago at 212 W. Washington, and returned from work daily with her parents who also worked for Illinois Bell Telephone.

While growing up the family lived at 3315 Seminary, Chicago.

Her next job was with the Sheahan Numbering Machine Co. in Mount Prospect, Ill., and drove a stick-shift Ford Mustang as her first company car of three over the years.

In 1974, she met Max and was married in 1975. They moved to a 7-acre farm in Ortonville, Mich.

Her handle in local CB Club was “Moon Shadow.”

Jeanne was a Notary Public in States of New York, Michigan and Wisconsin in connection with her employment as Town Clerk in Clarendon, N,Y.; as a Real Estate Director of Relocation Services, in Grand Blanc, Mich.; and Legal Secretary, in Land O’ Lakes, Wis.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Luke Ong and Rosella June Longer Ong; uncles, William, Richard, Jack and Hal Longer.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Max; brother, David Lee (Leanne) Ong; son, Max Francis Gerald Rockafellow; daughters by marriage, Ann Marie Rockafellow (Michael) Guenther, and Aimee Jo Rockafellow (Tom) Weston.

Jeanne leaves six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren (two more by summer 2022); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was a special person and will be missed very much by her family and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the Community Bible Church, PO Box 531, Eagle River, WI 54521-0531.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with a celebration service at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Jon Johnson.

Gravesite interment service will be held in the spring at the Eagle River Cemetery.

The family will be hosting a light luncheon after the service at the family home, 1425 Watersmeet Lake Road. for those who would like to attend.
