Fred D. Kauzlaric, a lifelong resident of Eagle River, died at his home Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019. He was 84.

He was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Eagle River to David and Anna Kauzlaric.

He was a 1952 graduate of Eagle River Union High School.

Mr. Kauzlaric married  Arlene July 30, 1955, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Eagle River.

He owned and operated Hebert Shell Station in Eagle River from 1968-’84. He also worked for 18 years at the Vilas Credit Union in Eagle River, retiring in 1999 as vice president. 

He served on the Eagle River Fire Department from 1977-’89, was an alderman for the city of Eagle River and also ran for mayor. 

Mr. Kauzlaric was a former president of the Eagle River Recreation Association and was instrumental to its auction. He also was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and served on the parish council for six years. 

He enjoyed golf, hunting, and gardening, but most of all, spending time with his family. 

He was an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan.

Mr. Kauzlaric was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dan; and four brothers, Donald, Richard, David and Russell.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene, of Eagle River; three sons, Dale (LuAnn) of Rothschild, Jim (Wendy), and Jeff (Jenna) of Washougal, Wash.; two daughters, Diana (Ken) Wright of Rhinelander, and Amy (Tim) Wainscott of San Dimas, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Eagle River. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
