George A. Slivinski, a resident of Three Lakes since 1976, died at his home Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019. He was 71.

He was born Oct. 2, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., to George P. and Alice Slivinski.

He was a 1966 graduate of St. Francis High School in Wheaton, Ill., where he recently attended his 50th class reunion.

Mr. Slivinski graduated Great Lakes Naval Academy in 1967. He served three tours of duty in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.

After returning home, he attended Loyola for two years.

He married Marsha April 8, 1972, in Winfield, Ill.

Mr. Slivinski worked for General Motors, ComEd, and Birginal Motors in RhineĀ­lander. He also worked for Vilas County Social Services and as a Vilas County corrections officer before his retirement.

He was an old-car enthusiast, and enjoyed motorcycling, bicycling, fishing and hunting.

Mr. Slivinski was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha of Three Lakes; one daughter, Sarah (Bjorn) SliĀ­vinksi-Hanson of Denver, Colo; two sons, Luke Anthony (Jennifer Hoel) of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Zachariah George of Cherry Hill, N.J.; his father, George of Three Lakes; six siblings, Alan, Catherine, Mark, Donna, Daniel and Robert; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Three Lakes. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River, and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the church before the service.
