Gerald “Jerry” Jakubow­ski died Thursday, Dec 3, 2020. He was 83.

Mr. Jakubowski was born Feb. 25, 1937, in southern Wisconsin and spent his youth in that area. 

He served in the U.S. Army for four and one-half years, much of it in Germany. When he left the Army, he became an electrician before buying  a resort in Sugar Camp in 1966 and moving with his young family to the North Woods. 

He and his wife, Marlene, ran Indian Trail Lodge until the mid-1970s when they started Jerry’s Septic and Excavating, which they operated until retiring in 2005.

Mr. Jakubowski had many interests, including motorcycles, radio-control­led airplanes, trapshooting, golf, bike riding, boating and fishing.

His Roman Catholic faith was a very important part of his life, and he spent many years contributing to the community of St. Kunegunda Catholic Church in Sugar Camp.

Mr. Jakubowski was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marlene; his parents, Marcella and Roman; and one brother, James. 

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one son, David (Julie); two daughters, Lisa (Mark) Kanz, and Jennifer (Pat) George; one sister, Judy Will; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. He is further survived by Marlene’s family, Dorothy’s children and family, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Services were held at Carlson Funeral Home in Rhinelander. He was interred in St. Kunegunda Catholic Cemetery.
