Harvey Lewis Hyslop Sr. of Eagle River died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk. He was 94.

Mr. Hyslop was born Nov. 24, 1924, in St. Clair, Mich., to Louis and Mary Hy­slop. 

After growing up in St. Clair, he entered the U.S. Army where he served six years as an enlisted man and three years as an officer. He received many decorations during his service, and also participated in the Bob Hope Show Tour in October 1950, representing the Eighth Army.

After returning from the Korean War, Mr. Hyslop met and married Beverly Johnson, and together they raised five children.

In 1967, he moved his family to Eagle River, where he loved to hunt and vacation for many years prior.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion, the Republican Party and National Rifle Association.

He was a member of Eagle River Baptist Church.

Mr. Hyslop was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; four brothers; and one grandson, Sean Messina.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Eagle River; two daughters, Christine (John) Otterness of Morongo Valley, Calif., and Debra (Glen) Grayman of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; three sons, Harvey Jr. (Sara) of Eagle River, Brian (Sheri) of St. Charles, Ill., and Jeffrey (Donna) of Eagle River; one brother, Alan (Chi Chi) of St. Clair; and seven grandchildren.
