Henry Charles Mayo of Eagle River, Wis., left for his eternal home on Dec. 24, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, Wis.

He was born Oct. 31, 1956, in Rhinelander, Wis., to Alfred and Marjorie Mayo.

Hank had been a mason all of his life. He started at a young age tending for his Uncle Bob. At one time he worked for himself in Eagle River.

After working for a time for Zimpleman Builders, he became a union bricklayer in Milwaukee, Wis. He retired at 55 to be home with his family in Eagle River.

He was an avid hunter/fisherman and gardener. He loved the outdoors and the animals, fish, birds and plants that he took care of.

Hank was a strong hard-working man who was a wonderful provider. We thank him for the sacrifices he made and the memories he left in our hearts forever.

Hank is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ardyce; children, Henry (Leslie) of Fresno, Calif., Chris (Tamra) of Arbor Vitae, Wis., Jacob of Eagle River, Benjamin of Eagle River, Kayla of Fresno, Rachel of Eagle River; grandchildren, Heather, Mary, Trent (Samantha), Donavan, Logan, Gavin, Cathie Sue, Bailey and Payton... Best Papa EVER!

He is also survived by brothers, John (Kathy), Alan Kauth; sisters, Marje Stilen, Lori (Jay) Varro; along with uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephews, John and Greg Stilen.
