Jim Estes, a 30-year resident of Eagle River, died Friday, July 10, 2020, at his home. He was 81. 

Mr. Estes was born May 12, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, to James and Ruth Estes.

He retired as a sergeant with the Eagle River Police Department after 18 years.  He also had owned and operated resorts in Tennessee and Three Lakes.  

Mr. Estes was athletic and played high school basketball and football. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed watching golf and rooting for the Green Bay Packers.

Mr. Estes was preceded in death by his parents.  

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Toni; two sons, Jim (Cindy) of Tallahassee, Fla., and Michael (Tina) of Front Royal, Va.; one daughter, Debi (John) Riley of Rhine­lander;  one brother, Tom (Elizabeth) of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Private family services were held.
