John A. Resch, 96, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center.

He was born on Jan. 19, 1925, to the late Jacob and Anna Resch in Chicago, Ill.

John earned his 96 years of life. At a young age, too little to harvest, his job was to bring water out to the workers in the farm fields.

After returning from the war, John often worked two full-time jobs, hard jobs, from construction to owning his own tavern, and lastly for UW-Parkside as lead custodian. All this provided him the means to retire early.

Florida was his first stop to soak in the sun, surf and great fishing. From there he settled in Eagle River, Wis.

Always a lover of good food, he discovered every eatery in any nearby county or back road.

If you ever were lucky enough to have visited, you were shown a hearty good time, he never disappointed.

John is survived by his brother, Alphonso (Jean) Resch; his special nieces, Diane (Chuck) Cannistra, Eleanor Resch, Kathie (Mike) Haye and Pat Beck, along with many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings and longtime companion, Mary Schroeder.

A Mass of Christian Burial for John will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, corner of 73rd St. and 39th Ave., Kenosha, Wis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass with Full Military Honors to follow.
