John R. Stepka, an avid family man, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020. He was 90 years old.

John was born in Elk River, Minn., Oct. 24, 1930, to Joseph and Anna Stepka.

He married Meredith E. Gerke in June 1958, and they lived throughout the United States before settling in Eagle River, Wis., in 1976.

They worked side by side as owners of Boat S’Port for 20 years with their five children.

John was an U.S. Air Force veteran and proudly served during the Korean War. He was a lifelong pilot who loved to be in his planes or working on them.

As a young man he worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft as an engineer, designing many planes during his 13-year tenure. 

With his young family he joined the Recreational Service Industry eventually landing in Eagle River. 

John was preceded in death by his wife, Meredith; granddaughter, Krystal; son-in-law Stephen; and one great-grandson.

He is survived by his special lady, Mimi Gnat; his children, Ron Stepka of Ventura, Calif., Kim Adamovich (Mike) of Eagle River, Karl Stepka, (Catherine) of New Port Richie, Fla., Catherine Underdown, (Bob) of Brandon, Ore., and Louis Stepka of Eagle River.

Also his grandchildren, Brad, Clinton, Jarrod, Brooke, Tyler, Josh, Kimber, Max, Darby, Catherine, Craig, and Bryce; and great- grandchildren, Brock and Bryce.

His life of adventure will continue as he takes the ultimate flight to our Lord and Savior.  A celebration of life will follow in the summer of 2021.
