Kathryn L. O’Toole, age 82, a resident of Burlington, Wis., and former longtime resident of Eagle River, Wis., passed away peacefully on Dec. 30, 2021.

Kathy was born on Sept. 30, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., to Dorsey and Laura Seratt.

Kathy grew up in Chicago and wed her beloved husband, James, on Jan. 23, 1960.

In 1979, Kathy and Jim left the bustling city of Chicago for the small town of Eagle River. They resided there until 2020.

For many years, they owned and operated The Liquor Spot, later renamed O’Toole’s Liquor Spot, in the Vilas Village Mall.

During their time in Eagle River they made a countless number of lifelong friends.

In September 2020, Kathy and Jim relocated to Burlington, to reside with their daughter, Laura Cichocki, and her husband, Jeff, and son, Eric.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Dorsey Seratt; three brothers, James, Jack and Edward Seratt; and her loving sister, Dolores Friedl, also of Eagle River.

Kathy is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, James; her son, James J. O’Toole of Minneapolis, Minn.; her daughter, Laura (Jeff); grandson, Eric; sisters-in-law, Fran and Pat; as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Due to Covid, a private service will be held to honor her life. A graveside service will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery at a later date.

In remembrance of Kathy’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
