Mary Ann (née Miene) Kramer unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021.

Mary was born to Clarence and Alice Miene in Chicago, Ill., as the youngest of four kids (Robert, James and Carol). Yes, to her mother’s surprise, she was not a tumor! She was blessed with a loving and close-knit family. While Mary lived in several different places, her heart was never far from Villa Park, Ill.

Mary spent her life loving and helping others. She was always active in her local church and sang in the church choir. Her love of people and animals was infectious as she was always thinking of others. She brought joy to all she knew through her voice, fabric creations, smile, pound cake, and killer bean dip.

Mary loved sewing. She made us everything from napkins to underwear to jackets and everything in between. She had such high demand that she even started her own brand “MAK SAK” to keep up with it all. Through the pandemic she spent countless hours making masks for friends, family, and those who needed them to try to help.

Through thick and thin, she always thought of others and could bring a smile to people’s faces with her irresistible laugh. She lived by her favorite quote from Jane Goodall, “You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”

Her greatest talent was being a mother to all. She has always been a supportive caregiver. Even early in adulthood, she left college to take care of her father when he fell ill. From her nieces and nephews, to grandkids, to other children she cared for, Mary was the mother of many. She never wanted more than happiness for her kids. So much so, that some of her last thoughts were, “I don’t dream of wealth and success for you. But instead, a job you like, skills you can perfect, enthusiasms to lighten your heart, friends, and love in abundance.”

Mary was the beloved wife of the late James Kramer. She is survived by her loving children, Kevin (Lisa) Kramer, Garrett (Kathryn) Kramer and Alissa (Brian) Carlson; grandchildren, Siena and William Kramer, Claire, Evelyn and Thomas Kramer, and Dylan and Ella Carlson; brother, Jim (Diane) Miene; sister, Carol (Dan) Rogers; sister-in-law, Shirley (Peter) Tenger. She was also an aunt and second mother to many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her long-time besties, the two Sues (Schoff and Ravio) and late-life companion, Jim McConnell. We will miss you, Mimi.
